Design you own fine silver jewelry from precious metal clay. PMC is made of tiny particles of silver suspended in an organic binder and water. When fired in a kiln, or with a butane torch, the binder burns off leaving an item that is pure silver (.999 fine silver). Learn how easy it is to mold, shape, and texture this clay into your own one-of-a-kind earrings and pendant.

Flat Band Rings (3 hours)

Learn how to size rings in PMC 3. Texture your band and add a CZ to the top of your ring. Instruction will include how to make and join a flat band ring. Previous experience with PMC necessary.
Ring sizes are not guaranteed as clay shrinks 8-10% in firing. However, we will be using ring mandrels to limit shrinking in the kiln to your specific ring size (this has produced pretty accurate results). We also have a choice of 4 fingers and a thumb on each hand as possible destinations for our new rings!

Drop Crystal Necklace (3 hrs.)

Byzantine Bracelet (3 hrs)
One of the most popular and versatile of the chain maille weaves. Once you master this weave you can change the size of the jump rings to make a fine neck chain to hold a beautiful focal bead,, add beads to a bracelet or allow the chain to sparkle beautifully alone.

In this class we will be using pre made fine silver stone mounts and fine silver wire to set a pearl and a faceted stone after firing. The pendant will be a heart outline shape...one side of the heart will be textured like bark. Instruction will include how to create a mirror finish on the other half of the heart outline. Previous metal clay experience is necessary.

PMC Hollow Bead Forms (Advanced)

During this advanced class for metal clay you will learn how to make an armature for hollow beads from cork clay, cover with silver clay, then embellish your beads with paper clay appliques. Learn syringe techniques by creating a pair of “free form” lacy earrings. Three forms of clay will be used to make a pendant and earrings. Previous basic metal clay experience is necessary as the class moves quickly through the projects. Please bring your tool kit from the Introduction class.

Make Your Own Molds

Do you have an antique button, sea shell or any found object (organic or otherwise) you wish to recreate in metal clay? Perhaps, to make a pendant, charm bracelet, a pair of earrings, or use as a design to top a ring band? Bring them to class and learn how to make your own molds from polymer clay and 2 part silicone molding compound. The class will also cover how to use jewelry and candy commercial molds to create your designs. Previous experience in PMC is necessary.

Introduction To Metal Clay: (4-hours)
Curious abut Metal Clay? This class was designed to offer basic instruction in metal clay techniques. Rolling, texturing, cutting and adding a bail to a pendant will be covered. You will complete your pendant by torch firing, tumbling to a high shine and adding a patina, if desired. No stone setting or inclusions, just metal clay. A perfect opportunity to get your hands into this medium, and have fun creating your one-of-a-kind pendant!
